Partnership - The Key To Success

Joint production of Joseph with Russian schools

Making the move to high school is a big one for young children. At Broad Oak we make sure your child is helped to settle in quickly, feels supported and knows that they are a valued member of the school community.

All students are placed in form groups with their own tutor who, as well as being a teacher, is on hand to provide advice and support.
Daily registration periods allow discussion time for students and tutors.
Year 7 students also benefit from having their own head of year with the Upper and Lower School groups having both a head and assistant head.

High expectations
We demand the highest standards of behaviour and expect students to demonstrate respect for their surroundings, staff and fellow students. To help us maintain a disciplined and respectful atmosphere we operate the Broad Oak Behaviour Code which students are expected to follow at all times. This sets out clearly our expectations of student behaviour.

Our facilities are available for adult learning

Working in partnership, form tutors and heads will:

Welcome and support new students to help them settle quickly and happily.

Ensure that students feel secure and supported within school.
Firmly address any anti-social behaviour.
Assist students with any individual problems or anxieties.
Encourage students to develop their own individuality and to respect the values of others.
Maintain an orderly, friendly atmosphere to ensure that the school runs smoothly and delivers the best possible education to all its students.

Keeping parents informed
We work in partnership with parents and guardians to ensure they are kept well informed of their child’s progress. In addition to annual parents’ evenings we will write to parents to inform them if their child has produced particularly good work or if we have concerns about their progress or behaviour. Parents can also use our online IRIS (It Really Is simple!) system to monitor any rewards or detentions given to their child. Pupils can also access this system which features a “shop” which allows them to trade merit points for goods like footballs, stationery, maths equipment and school trips.

Look smart, Think smart.
